What does a coach do?
She or he is a qualified professional who will lead you through a
process enabling you to take control of your life, decide what you need
to change and how to change it. A coach should always be supportive and
non judgmental but they must also be able to confidently and
constructively challenge you to help you move forward.
All coaches should be able to listen to and focus on their client
completely and have the experience, competence and skills to guide their
client in taking the action needed to reach their goals.
Tips for choosing a coach
All coaches advertising for a fee should be fully qualified with a
reputable trainer.
Each coach will have his or her own style, so find a coach with whom you
feel comfortable and able to establish a good rapport.
Remember - a coach is not a friend, mentor or advisor. They should be
encouraging and supportive but should remain objective - never offering
personal advice and able to constructively challenge a client.
Coaches should be insured.
All coaches should have a confidentiality policy.
Coaches can work on any aspect of your life but many choose to
specialise in a particular field of interest.
Your coach should also be committed to their own personal development
and professional development as an ongoing process. |
